Beverage Company signs MOU with GFF-Shabazz calls two tier system tremendous

LOCAL beverage manufacturing and distribution company Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) yesterday through their Diamond Mineral Water/Gatorade and Pepsi brand of products, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF).

AS 11.11.11 was historic for Guyana’s football, so was yesterday’s launching of the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Golden Jaguars Campaign to the 2014 FIFA World Cup North, Central America and Caribbean zone, round three qualifier matches which will see the Jaguars facing Costa Rica, El Salvador and Mexico in home and away matches to qualify for Brazil.

National football coaches advocate renewed vision for the sport

Assistant National Coach, Wayne Dover has made an impassioned plea for cohesiveness among local footballers and other stakeholders if the sport is to develop. He is adamant that footballers will benefit if they inculcate the precepts, strategies and vision espoused by the Technical staff headed by Trinidadian Coach, Jamaal Shabazz.

Golden Jaguars beat Guadeloupe 2-1 in friendly game

Point-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe – Goals from midfielder Konata Manning and centre-half Ryan Cradon guided Guyana’s youthful ‘Golden Jaguars’ to come from behind 2-1 win over a robust home team Guadeloupe at the Stade Rene Serge, Nabajoth on Friday evening.
Coach Jamaal Shabazz made five (5) changes to the team that played to an exciting come from behind 2-2 draw against Martinique on Wednesday.

Local Jaguars off to Martinique and Guadeloupe

The Golden Jaguars will depart the country today for two international friendly matches against French territory teams Martinique and Guadeloupe tomorrow and Thursday in the respective countries. The fixtures are the final installment of the “two-tier” system created by national coach Jamaal Shabazz which commenced in February where matches were played in Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent and French Guiana.

Guyana’s leading cyclists are set to collide on Sunday in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden when the Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF) in collaboration with the Linden Bauxite Flyers Cycle Club (LBFCC) hosts the historic inaugural Baker’s Memorial Cycling Classic.
