The KAYO Football Academy was launched in March of 2008 with the Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF) being one of the Academy's main sponsors.
The Academy was initiated by Guyana national footballer Kayode McKinnon after discussion with the Guyana Sports Development Foundation a non-profit organization based in the USA. The Foundation and 'KAYO' had similar ideas of developing Guyana's youths through sports, with the GSDF looking to launch several such academies across Guyana through it's After School Program A-STAR.
