The Guyana Lady Jags completed their one week camp in Toronto yesterday (Friday) in preparation for Round 2 of FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifying Games to be held in Trinidad next week.

The Lady Jags travel to Trinidad today (Saturday) and play their opening game on Monday May 10th against Barbados, before playing St. Lucia on Wednesday then Trinidad and Tobago on Friday, May 14th.

According to Technical Director - Mark Rodrigues, the theme for the camp was  "COMPETITIVE", with a points system being used the entire week at training. Points were posted every morning at the training facility for the players to review and assess where they were in relation to their teammates. This significantly raised the level of competitiveness daily, and was subsequently taken onto the field in their friendly games. Playing one of the top boy's teams in Ontario on Wednesday night allowed the coaching staff to focus specifically on areas of play that required addressing. This was done during training on Thursday, and successfully taken into their friendly game that evening, against one of the top Provincial female teams in Ontario, with Team Guyana enjoying the majority of the play.

Mr. Rodrigues stated that the players and coaching staff are looking forward to the higher level of competition in Stage II of Qualifying, especially as they will be playing two other group winners and the favorites - Trinidad.

To wrap things up, the Guyana Women's Football Committee (GWFC) also hosted a Business Presentation on Friday evening at the Delta Toronto East. The presentation was open to the Guyanese business community in Toronto and had approximately 75 persons in attendance.

The speakers at the Business Presentation included Guyana's Consul General to Toronto, the Honorary Danny Doobay, FIFA's Technical Advisor and Canadian Hall of Famer, Mr. Dick Howard, President of the Guyana Football Federation Mr. Colin Klass and Lady Jags Technical Director Mr. Mark Rodrigues. A Power Point Business presentation on behalf of the Guyana Women's Football Committee was done by Mr. Colin Baker, Program Director of the Lady Jags.

The Business Presentation was very well received by all in attendance with business representatives and individuals pledging to support the Lady Jags Program.

The GWFC wishes to thank the Pickering Soccer Club and Norman Sue's Bakery, the number one nominated Bakery in Scarborough for their assistance in making the Lady Jags camp and Business Presentation a success.
