Junior Netballers intensifying preparations

The National 16 and under Netball squad currently preparing for the
Caribbean Developmental Championship which runs from April 8-18 in
Barbados held another intense practice session yesterday, at the Cliff
Anderson Sports Hall.
According to Manager of the squad Tracy O’Neal the players have
improved tremendously since the last tournament which was held in
Jamaica and she expects them to do much better this time against the
other countries.
Guyana is grouped with Dominica, Bahamas and St. Kitts and they are all
vying for qualification to compete against powerhouses Jamaica,
Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados, some of the countries classified as
the teams at the highest level in the Caribbean.
The squad currently consists of thirteen members and they are: Shanika
Estwick (Captain), Kristy Roberts (Vice-Captain), Shonette Estwick,
Alisha Nedd, Simonica Fanfair, Tasnica Lovell, Simona Hopkinson,
Shameza Subrattie, Joyann Blair, Niony Forde, Latoya Cameron and
Tiffany Rampaul.
The Guyana Netball Association has added four new players to those that participated in the last Championship.
Sessions are being held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 15:30 hrs and then on Saturday and Sunday from 18:00 hrs.
Meanwhile, the GNA is appealing to members of the corporate sector to
assist them in procuring the funds needed to participate in the
tournament.
