The Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF), a Miami based foundation which has been assisting in the development of local sportsmen and women, has continued in this vein.
Their recent donation came in the form of a racing cycle to the Roraima Bikers Club Linden Branch.
President of the GSDF Colin Baker, himself a former top cyclist from Linden who competed creditably on the national circuit, made the cycle available which would be used by Harry Simmons at the upcoming National Track and Field, Cycling and Swimming championships.
Handing over the cycle to Simmons on Sunday was president of the Roraima Bikers Club, Brien Allen.
Second Vice President Samuel Barker in brief remarks thanked the GSDF and president Baker for the timely donation which he said would help to enhance racing in the Linden and bring it back to its form days of glory.
He also pointed out that the GSDF has sponsored two race meets for the year in the Mining town and he trusts that the level of support would be maintained and even increased in 2008.
